The BASIC edition allows for exporting to your Palm OS device only. The PLUS edition adds the ability to import a MobileDB or HanDBase file to a new Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, dBase, or Paradox database. The Upgrade is for users who have already licensed the BASIC edition and need the import capability of the PLUS edition.

From your desktop, you may export to MobileDB or HanDBase from any database you connect to through ODBC such as Oracle, SQL Server, and Sybase. You may also export from any version of Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, dBase V, dBase IV, dBase III, Paradox 5, Paradox 4, Paradox 3, and formatted text files. This application has also been tested with exporting Microsoft Project 2000 and Microsoft Project 98 files without having to convert them to a different format first. You may select from 226 Task fields or 188 Resource Fields. Microsoft Project is required to be install on your PC.

The size of the exported database is only limited by the amount of free RAM on your Palm OS device. After selecting the database you want to export from, you can export a whole table, write your own SQL statement, or use the built in SQL statement generator that allows you to limit the number of records exported to your Palm OS device by placing criteria on your data selection. It will even join tables for you with a few clicks of the mouse.

If you need data to carry around for your personal or company PC, this is the product for you. It converts MS Access, dBase, FoxPro (through ODBC), Paradox, MS Excel, and any ODBC database you have access to from your PC/LAN including Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, etc.

Desktop2MobileDB will create a MobileDB or HanDBase database file that can be synched to your Palm OS device automatically, or allow you to save the file to your hard drive and download it at a later date. Your PC does not have to hot-synch for Desktop2MobileDB to work. You may put your newly created MobileDB or HanDBase database on a floppy, and bring it to your hot-synch machine.

The software is free to download and evaluate. You will need to purchase a license to use it past the evaluation period.Version 4.3 (4/27/02) allows users to automate the importing of PDB files. This version has also been tested with PocketPC versions of MobileDB and HanDBase.

Version 4.2 (3/28/02) allows users who export to MobileDB to add a description to the database.

Version 4.1 (3/12/02) adds the ability to append the creation date to your database name for historical purposes. The database on your Palm OS device does not have to be overwritten.

Version 4.0 (12/13/01) adds the ability to imort and export HanDBase PDB files in addition to MobileDB files. Now you may take you desktop, ODBC, and MS Project files with you.

Version 3.5 (10/1/01) adds FULL support for MobileDB v3. You may now import and export to either version 2.x or version 3 of the MobileDB database format. In addition, you may exclude importing records that have been filtered out on your Palm OS device.

Version 3.2 adds support for Microsoft Project and dBase files. The selection screen has been broken up into three easy to use tabs. The first tab lets you select your desktop or ODBC database. The second tab allows you to filter the data to be exported. The third tab lets you manage the field names and order for your MobileDB database. With version 3.2, you may also auto-install the newly created MobileDB database to several machines at one time. This is useful for database such as work orders, inventories, and address books.
