  • Application Description
Use STOIC (STay On In Cradle) to force your PDA to stay on when charging via the cradle or cable. This solves issues with handhelds that don't have a "stay on" option or for situations where the stay on option isn't working properly.
Works on most old and new palm models (OS 2.0 and above).

I created this app because my new Tungsten T3 wouldn't always stay on in the cradle EVEN THOUGH I had turned on the stay on option under preferences.

This app is provided as freeware, as is, and with no warranties of any kind. Enjoy!

Thanks for the easy, well writen STOIC program that does exactly what it was intended for: keeping my T3 awake whilst cradled. Plus, it was given to us without any financial cost. Thanks a million, Alan Hecht!

STOIC worked as advertised. I was having trouble with the otherwise very nice Palmary Clock insofar as timers would not sound if my Treo 600 shut down in the middle of a timing¿a screen would come up when 0:00 was reached, but no sound. With STOIC, the system stays on and the timers sound.

I'm afraid that this app seems to have totally stopped working now on my T3 since my initial review. Since then, I've installed a number of apps and set up some Bluetooth functionality. There must be an incompatibility with something I've installed or set up, which is a shame. If Alan would like to contact me, maybe via an update to this review, I'd happily work with him to try and identify what is causing the problem....

For some reason, my T3 still sometimes times out in the cradle and switches itself off. I then go into STOIC and confirm that it is enabled (and find that it is), and the device then stays on for the rest of the day. Would get the 5th star if it always stayed on. BTW, I have Palm's security patch installed, if that makes any difference...

Did the trick on my Tunsgten T3.

As usual Palm are no help. Thank goodness we have talented people like Alan who can help us get the most from our PDAs.

    Well done!
